The Reality
Most internet color lists are “fake certainty.” They tell you red means passion and blue means trust. It’s folklore, not a design method. In reality, a user’s reaction to a color is filtered through their culture, their current mood, and their screen’s brightness.
The Senior Move
Stop picking colors based on “vibes” and start picking them based on behavioral logic. Senior designers use color for:
Hierarchy: Guiding the eye to what matters.
System States: Success, Error, Warning (mapped to the domain, not a mood board).
Accessibility: If your color is doing the heavy lifting, your design is broken.
Action
If color is carrying meaning, make sure meaning still exists in grayscale.
