Theory

You should follow Laws of UX and know principles like cognitive load, Hick’s Law, Fitts’s Law, etc.

Hard truth

These “laws” are guidance. People misapply them like commandments and build rigid UX.

Senior move

Use Laws of UX to:

  • diagnose why something feels hard

  • argue for simplification with credible reasoning
Not to justify a predetermined opinion.

Action

When quoting a “law,” also state the trade-off you’re accepting.
